Privacy Policy
The short version
- We build and host career and technical education (CTE) websites for schools, colleges, and training institutions. We work for the institution, and we use information only to provide that service.
- In Signal Mode, the site collects no personal information from students or families at all.
- In Full Capture, students in K‑12 programs are asked only for their first name, last name, and grade. Adult learners and parents are asked for their name, email address, and phone number.
- We never sell personal information, never use it for advertising, and never market to students.
- Our analytics use no cookies and do not identify visitors.
1. Who we are
AscendCTE™ is a product of Shine 49 Media House LLC, a Texas limited liability company doing business as CTEPromoVideos.com (“we,” “us”). This policy covers the AscendCTE™ websites we build and host for institutions, usually at an address such as yourdistrict.ascendcte.com or on the institution’s own domain, and our website at ascendcte.com.
2. Our role
Each AscendCTE™ site is operated on behalf of a school district, college, or training institution (the “institution”). The institution decides what the site collects and who on its staff receives it. We act as the institution’s service provider, under its direction. We use the information only to provide the service to that institution, and never for our own purposes.
If you are a student or parent with questions about your own information, you may contact your school or institution directly, or contact us using the details at the end of this policy.
3. What we collect
Every AscendCTE™ site runs in one of two modes, chosen by the institution.
Signal Mode
The site collects no personal information from students or families. There are no accounts, no logins, and no forms. When a visitor taps “I’m interested,” the site shows who to contact at the institution. We measure only anonymous visit totals (see section 4).
Full Capture
The site includes a short interest form so the institution’s CTE staff can follow up with students who ask to hear more.
| Who | What the form asks for |
|---|---|
| Students in K‑12 programs | First name, last name, and grade. That is all a K‑12 student is required to give. Some institutions add optional fields, such as an email address, phone number, or student ID, which the student may leave blank. |
| Adult learners (colleges and training institutions) | First and last name, current status (for example, high school graduate or adult learner), email address, and phone number. |
| Parents and guardians (families outside the institution’s boundaries) | The parent’s or guardian’s first and last name, email address, and phone number (optional), plus the student’s grade. |
Every form also offers an optional note for a question, and a checkbox asking whether the person would like the CTE team to reach out. We also record which program and campus the form was sent from, the language of the page, and the time it was sent.
Where an institution accepts interest from families who live outside its boundaries, the form is completed by a parent or guardian, who confirms that role and provides their name, an email address, and a phone number (optional) so the institution can respond. The student is not asked for any contact information.
Staff and institution information
When an institution sets up its site, its staff give us program details and the staff contact names, titles, and email addresses the institution chooses to publish on the site. We also keep the contact details of the people we work with at the institution.
Photos and videos
Sites show program videos and images produced by us or supplied by the institution. Watching them collects nothing about the viewer. Videos play from our own servers. We do not use YouTube or any other third-party video player. Visitors cannot upload photos or videos. The institution is responsible for media releases for any student who appears in footage it supplies or that we film for it.
4. Analytics, cookies, and security checks
- Analytics. We use Fathom Analytics to count page visits. Fathom does not use cookies and does not store personal information such as IP addresses. The institution sees only totals, like how many visits each program page received.
- No tracking cookies. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not share visitor data with advertising networks or social media platforms.
- Browser storage. The site saves a few settings in your own browser so it works smoothly, such as your language choice or, on staff setup pages, unsent answers so they are not lost. This stays on your device and is not used to track you.
- Security check (Full Capture only). To block automated spam, the interest form uses Cloudflare Turnstile, which briefly checks technical information such as your IP address and browser. We use your IP address only to perform that check and to limit repeated submissions. We do not store it with your form.
5. How we use information
- To deliver each form to the institution that collected it, by email to the staff it names and into a spreadsheet the institution owns.
- To build, run, secure, and fix the institution’s site.
- To give the institution an anonymous dashboard of visits and conversions. The dashboard shows no names or contact details.
6. What we never do
- We never sell or rent personal information.
- We never use it for advertising, and we never send marketing to students or families.
- We never build profiles of students, and we never combine one institution’s information with another’s.
- We never use student information to train artificial intelligence models.
7. Who receives information
The institution’s staff receive the forms submitted on their site. Apart from them, we rely on a small number of service providers to run the platform. Each receives only what it needs to do its job:
| Provider | What it does for us |
|---|---|
| Amazon Web Services | Hosts the websites and videos, and sends form notification emails to institution staff |
| Supabase | Secure database where submitted forms and setup information are stored |
| Render | Server that routes each form to the institution’s email and spreadsheet |
| The institution’s own spreadsheet, which we write forms into for its staff | |
| Cloudflare | Spam and bot check on the interest form |
| Fathom Analytics | Cookie-free, anonymous visit counts |
Amazon Web Services, Supabase, and Render are U.S.-based, and the student and staff information we hold is stored in the United States.
We may also disclose information when the law requires it, for example to comply with a valid court order. Where the law allows, we will tell the institution first.
8. How long we keep it, and deletion
We keep an institution’s information only while it is a customer. The institution may ask us to delete specific records, or all of its records, at any time. When the institution’s agreement ends, we give the institution a copy of its submitted forms and then delete them, along with its setup information, from our database.
9. How we protect it
- All traffic to our sites is encrypted (HTTPS).
- The database is closed to the public. Website visitors cannot read it, and forms reach it only through a server-side check.
- Access to submitted forms within our company is limited to the company’s owner.
If we learn of a security incident affecting an institution’s information, we will notify that institution promptly so it can meet its own obligations to students and families.
10. Students, parents, and privacy laws
We support the institutions we serve in meeting their obligations under student privacy laws, including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and applicable state student-privacy laws. Information collected on behalf of a school remains under the school’s control.
Students and parents who want to see, correct, or delete information submitted through an AscendCTE™ site can contact their school or institution, or contact us directly. We will work with the institution to respond. We are glad to sign an institution’s standard data privacy agreement.
11. Our own website, ascendcte.com
This section covers our sales website only, not institution sites. If you book a call with us, Calendly collects your name, email address, and any answers you give so we can schedule and prepare for the call. When you book a call, request a report, or sign up for updates, we keep the details you give us (such as your name, email address, and institution) in ActiveCampaign so we can follow up and occasionally email you about our services. Every email includes an unsubscribe link. Pages on ascendcte.com load fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address to deliver them. We do not run advertising trackers on ascendcte.com.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new effective date. If a change affects how an institution’s information is used, we will tell that institution before the change takes effect.
